Hans Uslar, Monterey’s city manager for seven years and a city employee for 28 years, has disclosed plans to retire on Dec. 30.
In a press release, Uslar said his goal as the city’s chief executive had been to balance a tourism-based economy with the preservation of neighborhoods and quality of life.
Uslar joined the city staff as a management analyst in 1997. He became assistant director of plans and public works in 2008, and assistant city manager in 2014.
