Oakland awarded $10M to fund safer streets, bicycle paths in eastern portion of the city

The City of Oakland has received a $10 million grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Housing Incentive Pool (HIP) program to fund street safety and infrastructure improvements around the Northeastern University Oakland campus, city officials recently announced.

The grant will support Phase 2 and 3 of the Laurel Access to Mills, Maxwell Park, and Seminary (LAMMPS) project, which includes a new off-street shared-use path and streetscape upgrades along MacArthur Boulevard and Seminary Avenue, officials noted.
