Stockton man accused of trying to support ISIS, plotting violent attacks, feds say

A Stockton man was arrested this week and charged with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, federal prosecutors said.

Ammaad Akhtar, 33, was taken into custody following a months-long investigation in which he allegedly expressed support for ISIS, sent money and weapons to an individual he believed was affiliated with the group, and discussed plans to carry out attacks, according to court documents, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement.
