Contra Costa Animal Services is opening its doors Saturday for a day of free pet adoptions, activities, and community fun as part of the second-annual California Adopt-A-Pet Day, a statewide effort involving more than 150 shelters.
While the pets are the main draw, the day is shaping up to be more like a block party for animal lovers. Local rescue groups like CalPaws, Contra Costa Humane Society, Rhodie’s Rescue, and Hugs for Harry will be on hand at the county shelter in Martinez with adoptable animals.
