They were driving from their home in Marina, California, up to San Jose on Thursday evening, Jan. 16. Only when they arrived did they learn what exactly had happened: A lithium-ion battery array at Vistra’s Moss Landing 300-megawatt energy storage facility, one of the largest in the world, had caught fire earlier that afternoon.
