San Jose Public Library has released lists of the books that were checked out the most by library visitors in 2024, with Britney Spears’ memoir leading among adults and a book in the “Dog Man” series by Dav Pilkey the most checked-out title among children and among all age groups.

“The Woman in Me,” the autobiography from the pop icon Spears about her life, was the top title in the adult category. “The Mystery Guest” by Nita Prose and “Tom Lake” by Ann Patchett were second and third.
The most checked-out title in the teen/young adult category was “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” by Suzanne Collins. The book is a prequel to Collins’ popular series “The Hunger Games.”
