The most checked-out title in the teen/young adult category was “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” by Suzanne Collins. The book is a prequel to Collins’ popular series “The Hunger Games.”

In the children category, “Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea” by Pilkey was the leader and was also San Jose Public Library’s most checked out book across all age groups, genres and formats. Pilkey and Jeff Kinney, author of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, filled up all top 10 spots in the children’s categories with various books they’ve authored, library officials said.

San Jose Public Library has more than 760,000 library cardholders and had about 7.6 million items checked out over the past year. The full list of top borrowed books can be found on the library’s website.
