Oakland City Council incumbent Noel Gallo was pulling ahead of his two opponents in the District 5 election with nearly 59% of the vote based on early returns from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters Office.
His challengers, Erin Armstrong, a policy advisor to Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, had about 29% of the vote, and Dominic Prado, a Fruitvale District restaurateur, had about 12%, with about 2,000 votes counted out of the district’s roughly 26,000 registered voters as of about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.
