San Francisco voters appear poised to pass two local bond measures to fund school improvements and community health centers, based on early results Tuesday that show well over the needed margins to pass.
As of 9:41 p.m., with just less than 30% of the vote counted, Measure A, a $790 million school bond measure, has received 72.78% votes in favor, leading 139,781 to 52,279.
Measure B, a $390 million bond measure to fund repairs and renovations to hospitals and health centers, is ahead with 71.3% of votes in favor.
Measure A needs 55% to pass, and so could Measure B, if the statewide Proposition 5 passes, which would lower the threshold from 66.67%.
If the current results carry forward, Measure B will pass either way.
It includes about $99 million to acquire and improve community health centers, such as $71 million for proposed seismic renovations to the Chinatown Public Health Center and $28 million to relocate the San Francisco City Clinic on Seventh Street.
Other work would include $66 million for Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, and Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center.
About $64 million would be used for street and sidewalk improvements, while $66 million would be used for public spaces downtown, including $25 million for Harvey Milk Plaza.
About $50 million would be earmarked for shelters and interim housing projects.
