Undercover officers helped arrest 17 people for organized retail shoplifting in the Ingleside District of southeast San Francisco, police said.

The operation, conducted between Aug. 23 and Sept. 24, concentrated on merchants in the 3300 and 4900 blocks of Mission Street, “chosen for operations due to the high number of shoplifting incidents,” police said in a press release.
