Public survey available for Hwy 85 transit corridor development in Santa Clara County

Public input is being sought for a transportation study on the Stevens Creek Boulevard/West San Jose Corridor in Santa Clara County.
The stretch of state Highway 85 from West Carlos Street, near the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority Diridon Station, to De Anza Community College, in Cupertino, is being developed in a joint project from the VTA, the city of San Jose, city of Cupertino, city of Santa Clara, and Santa Clara County.
The corridor includes De Anza Community College, five San Jose urban villages, the headquarters of both Apple and Agilent Technologies, Main Street Cupertino, and current and planned shopping areas, according to a press release from the city of San Jose.
The online survey from the city of Santa Clara is seeking ideas from the public about how to develop the transit corridor. It is available in multiple languages. The survey will close on Oct. 31.
The goal of the project is to create multi-modal transportation improvements, high-capacity transit options, and complete streets, according to a city of Santa Clara press release.
Complete streets are roads that are designed to be safe for multiple modes of access and transportation, like bike lanes and accessible curbs, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
