Trashed transportation removed from Vallejo streets; police tow dozens of abandoned cars

The streets of Vallejo are looking a bit less — how do we say it gently, trashy — in the wake of a blight-fighting operation this month that saw police remove dozens of stripped, gutted and graffitied abandoned vehicles.

According to a post on its social media account, the Vallejo Police Department on Aug. 14 followed up on 91 abandoned vehicle complaints it had received from the public. About one third of the vehicles in question were gone when police arrived. Of the rest, 52 vehicles were towed, one was tagged for removal, and two stolen vehicles were recovered.
