The president of the Richmond police union has been appointed to the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Benjamin Therriault, a sergeant in the Richmond Police Department, was named Friday to the panel, which sets minimum selection and training standards for California law enforcement. The position requires California Senate confirmation.
