High stress, low pay: Survey finds teachers burning out from long hours, admin tasks

TEACHERS WORK MORE hours with a lower average base pay than other working Americans with similar vocations, according to a national Rand survey released Tuesday.

Teachers who took part in the annual Rand State of the Teacher survey reported working an average of 53 hours per week. The average similar worker logged 44 hours a week, according to the nonprofit research organization.
