Union City’s Public Works Department is working to provide about 2.5 miles of buffered bike lanes in the city by late 2025. 

The city has contracted with Bay Cities Paving & Grading Inc. to add bike lanes along Union City Boulevard from Smith Street to the southern city limits at the Alameda County Flood Control Channel Bridge. The project is officially called the Union City Boulevard Bike Lanes Improvement Project
