Until the end of this month, the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter will cut its normal adoption fees by at least half to find homes for its animals.

Much of shelter’s available cage and kennel space is occupied, animal shelter general manager Amber Rowland said, due to a slow-down in adoptions and increased animal intakes. Currently, the shelter houses 74 dogs and 180 cats, and 23 dogs and 115 cats in foster care.
