Fairfield police arrested a man for allegedly committing arson, after the man offered tips to police on how to deal with a burning car.

Police received a call at approximately 11 p.m. on May 30 concerning an RV on fire near Stanford Court and Huntington Drive.

When officers arrived, the vehicle in question was fully engulfed in flames.

A short distance away from the site, a man flagged down an officer and allegedly advised him the fire department would need “five engines instead of two” for the RV on fire up the street.

Police said the suspect had a felony warrant for his arrest and prior charges for arson.

Police arrested the man for the warrant and his clothes were taken for evidence processing.
