A landslide in Big Sur that has closed state Highway 1 for more than a year is expected to be cleared by early to mid-July, opening access to the town of Lucia, Caltrans said.

An estimated 500,000 cubic yards of earth and rocks engulfed the highway at Paul’s Slide on Jan. 14, 2023, closing the highway at Limekiln State Park, according to Caltrans.
