A FIGHT OVER which court should hear copyright class action lawsuits against the artificial intelligence company OpenAI has pitted San Francisco against New York.

Beginning in the middle of 2023, authors and other content creators began filing lawsuits against OpenAI — the developer and owner of ChatGPT — and other generative artificial intelligence platforms.
