Santa Cruz County is offering relief to some people who have bench warrants out for their arrest, offering those who are eligible a chance to have the warrant recalled if they meet certain criteria.

A free workshop to help guide applicants through the process will be held later this month in Watsonville. It will target bench warrants that were issued for technical violations or possible missed communications.

The county’s public defender’s office, district attorney’s office, probation department and superior court are collaborating to offer the special program.

The event will be held Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Luna y Sol Familia Center, located at 15 Madison St. in Watsonville.

For more information and to check eligibility, contact the Santa Cruz County Public Defender’s Office at (831) 345-7813 or PDO@santacruzcountyca.gov.
