The San Francisco Fire Department will demonstrate new equipment later this month intended to supply large amounts of water when conventional water mains aren’t available, such as during earthquakes.
Three Rosenbauer Hose Tenders are designed to pump water from Lake Merced, Spreckels Lake, Stow Lake or San Francisco Bay directly to a large fire, according to the department.
A tender will be displayed to the public at 11 a.m. Jan. 31 at the Lake Merced Boat Ramp, 1 Harding Road, San Francisco, the fire department said Saturday.
