Lafayette has a new mayor and vice mayor.
The city council on Monday last week selected city councilmember Gina Dawson to be mayor for the next year.
The council also selected councilmember Wei-Tai Kwok to serve as vice mayor.
Dawson, who was vice mayor the past year, was first elected to the council in 2020. This is her first time serving as mayor.
Wei-Tai Kwok has served on the council since August 2021. This is his first time serving as vice mayor.
The mayoral rotation in Lafayette is decided by a vote of the City Council during the first regular meeting in December; the selection is made from among the current Councilmembers and the term to serve as Mayor is for one year.
The meeting is available to watch on the City’s Youtube channel.
