Portola Valley almost seems like it could be part of Marin County, with its long twisting roads that pass redwood and oak trees, tennis and swimming clubs, expensive houses and horse stables.
But this wealthy San Mateo County town of 4,000 is very much a part of Silicon Valley. One of its main roads, Portola Road, leads to Sand Hill Road, home of the valley’s famed venture capital firms.
