Santa Rosa will receive $2.9 million in a National Parks Service grant for the new Kawana Springs Park, U.S. Rep. Mike Thompson said last week.

The grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund will help the city develop the 19.2-acre park located in southeast Santa Rosa at Kawana Terrace and Meda Avenue.

The project will construct a fitness course along a loop trail, half basketball court, sand volleyball court, bicycle pumptrack, dog park, bocce court and other features, according to Thompson’s office.
