The Mountain View City Council has appointed an affordable housing advocate to fill a vacant council seat.

Emily Ann Ramos will serve the remainder of former councilmember Sally Lieber’s term until January 2025. Lieber was elected to the California State Board of Equalization in November and resigned on Dec. 30.
Ramos currently works as the preservation and protection associate for Silicon Valley at Home, an affordable housing organization that works with a broad coalition of partners to boost affordable housing builds, preserve existing affordable homes and protect families from homelessness.
She has also served on Mountain View’s Rental Housing Committee since 2017.
Ramos was named Woman of the Year by state Sen. Josh Becker, D-San Mateo, for the 13th Senate District of California for her volunteer work in protecting the rights of tenants and ensuring access to stable housing.
Ramos was one of 10 applicants for the City Council seat, which opened for applications at the beginning of the year.
Ramos will be sworn in on Feb. 14.
