A river runs through it: Oakland Zoo forced to close for weeks after sinkhole collapses road

Storm damage over the weekend has closed the Oakland Zoo until at least Jan. 17, zoo officials said.

A major sinkhole formed under the vehicle entrance to the zoo at Golf Links Road after a culvert became overburdened and collapsed during the historic and unprecedented amount of rainfall throughout the region the past week.
