Funding is coming available for people and community groups who want to hold cultural and special events in Hayward, city officials said.
The money will be available in the 2023-24 fiscal year starting July 1.
City officials have established new rules for requesting and awarding of funding for cultural and special events.
Hayward defines the events as ones that require the use of city property and have an impact on city services, resources, businesses, neighborhoods or the whole community that would not have occurred if the event was not held.
Examples include parades, arts and craft shows, car shows, athletic events, and music performances.
To request funding, individuals must attend a virtual bidder’s conference from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 1.
People who are unable to attend the conference should get in touch with city staff before the conference.
Information on how to join the conference can be found on the city’s website or people can get in touch with Community Services Division staff members Jessica Lobedan at 510-583-4201 or Carol Lee at 510-583-5343.
Applications for funding will be available on the city’s website starting Nov. 1. The filing deadline is 5 p.m., Dec. 2. Decisions will be made by the City Council in the spring following recommendations by Community Services Commission, city officials said.
