There was also a special appearance, via Zoom, by Gene Millen, who served as a Fire Controlman 3rd Class aboard the original USS Hornet CV-12 during World War II.
The event was one of several Memorial Day events held around the Bay Area on Monday, like the lighting of the Mount Diablo beacon to honor U.S. service members.
