Travelers looking to experience Philadelphia via a nonstop flight from Oakland will soon be able to fly Spirit Airlines to their destination.

Starting May 18, 2022, Spirit will fly a daily nonstop flight to Philadelphia International Airport from Oakland International Airport. Flights are already on sale.

Spirit will be taking travelers there on a new Airbus A320neo, which produces fewer carbon emissions and has eight “big front” and 174 “deluxe leather” seats.

Spirit’s offerings at Oakland International have been growing since it began offering flights there more than a decade ago. Philadelphia is the seventh destination Spirit serves from Oakland.

“Spirit’s growth at OAK is aligned with the growing sentiment among East Bay travelers to opt for the reliability and convenience of their close-in and convenient home airport,” Bryant Francis, director of aviation at the Port of Oakland, which operates the airport, said in a statement.

The nonstop flight to Philadelphia brings to 11 the number of peak-day departures on Spirit from Oakland. Other destinations include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orange County, Chicago-O’Hare, Houston-Bush, and Detroit.
