The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday the death of a correctional lieutenant due to complications from COVID-19.

Lt. Bobby Travelstead died Wednesday at a hospital, the Sheriff’s Office wrote on social media.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Travelstead started with the Sheriff’s Office in 2007, working in several roles in its Detention Division, and was promoted to lieutenant in 2019, sheriff’s officials said.

He is survived by his two daughters.

“Bobby’s personality and sincerity made him a well-liked co-worker and respected leader,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook. “Rest in Peace, Bobby. We got it from here.”
