The city of Concord and Contra Costa County will bring a mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic to the city’s weekly Music & Market concert series Thursday, offering free movie tickets to people who get vaccinated.

The mobile clinic will offer free Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Todos Santos Plaza as well as Moderna vaccines for people who need their second vaccine dose.

People who get vaccinated at the clinic will receive one free movie ticket for Brenden Theatres, according to the county.

“I am thrilled to team up with the city of Concord to provide more opportunities for vaccination,” said county Supervisor Karen Mitchoff, who represents Concord. “I want to see every eligible resident in Contra Costa County get vaccinated.”

The Music & Market series is held in downtown Concord every Thursday during the summer. The event’s farmers’ market is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. while music by the 925 Band will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Unvaccinated residents are encouraged to wear a face covering while in crowded outdoor settings.

“I’m grateful that a beloved Concord event such as Music & Market can play a role in helping to keep our community safe by being a destination for residents and visitors to receive a free COVID-19 vaccine,” Concord Mayor Tim McGallian said.
