Top Fuel
Steve Torrence is looking to sweep the NHRA’s three-race Western Swing after his Top Fuel win at the 33rd annual NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway.
A win at next week’s Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona for the NHRA’s Top Fuel points leader will do it for the Capco Racing/Torrence Motorsports team.
Torrence narrowly beat Leah Pruett by 0.011 of a second, in the final round after she went 3.768 at 323.04 in a great side-by-side race. The win is the 46th in his career and sixth victory this year.
Funny Car
Robert Hight took his third straight Funny Car victory at Sonoma Raceway with a run of 3.971 at 322.50 beating defending world champ Matt Hagen in the final round.
Hagan reached his second straight final and 68th in his career thanks to round wins against Jeff Diehl, Blake Alexander and Alexis DeJoria.
Pro Stock
Aaron Stanfield got past rookie Dallas Glenn with a run of 6.557 at 209.56 in the Pro Stock final round.
Glenn finished with a 6.580 ET at 207.69 mph.
Pro Stock Motorcycle
Karen Stoffer got her first win since 2019 beating Andrew Hines in the final round with a run of 6.798 at 197.36.
Hines finished with a 6.800 ET at 200.98 mph.
Top Fuel top qualifier, Brittany Force, lost in the fourth round to Leah Pruitt.
Top Funny Car qualifier, Ron Capps, lost to Robert Hight in the fifth round.
