Bay Area leaders back bill calling for automated speed detection on roads

Several Bay Area leaders are voicing their support for a new bill that seeks to use technology to reduce speeding and prevent pedestrian fatalities throughout the state.

Assembly Bill 550, authored by Assemblymember David Chiu, D-San Francisco, would allow for the use of automated speed detection systems along some of the state’s most dangerous roads through a five-year pilot program.
