Santa Clara officials have announced a rebate program via the city’s electric utility service in which low-income residents can receive up to $1,500 back if they purchase a new or used electric vehicle.

The rebate program with the city’s Silicon Valley Power utility also includes up to $1,000 for the purchase of a plug-in hybrid vehicle.

People must be Silicon Valley Power residential customers already enrolled in the utility’s Financial Rate Assistance Program and meeting other eligibility requirements.

More information about the program and other rebates available to Silicon Valley Power customers is available on the agency’s website.
