Space fever has firmly gripped the Bay Area as the nation prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

On July 20, 1969, America’s most famous extraterrestrial sojourners touched down on the moon after making the three-day trip from the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Fla.
