A new community cabin site has opened in West Oakland to serve 76 homeless people, Mayor Libby Schaaf announced.
The site on Mandela Parkway was chosen to address the persistent public health and safety hazards at two large encampments along the Emeryville-Oakland border nearby. The residents of the two encampments are being offered space at the Mandela Community Cabins as the encampments are closed.
