The Lafayette City Council on April 22 appointed Mike Anderson to his fourth term as mayor.

Anderson is completing the mayoral term of Cam Burks, who earlier this month announced he was stepping down as mayor to devote more time to his family and a new professional opportunity while staying on the City Council.

City Council members in Lafayette are elected at large and rotate as mayor by appointment from their fellow council members.

Anderson was elected to the all-volunteer council in 2005 and has previously been appointed as mayor for 2007-08, 2012-13 and 2016-17, according to the city.

The City Council  also appointed Susan Candell as vice mayor. Her council term ends in 2022, while Anderson’s ends in 2020.
