Welcome to the Bay Area Civic Engagement Hub, an initiative by the Bay City News Foundation dedicated to providing the critical information and resources that enable informed civic participation, support democratic values, and foster a more connected community. From voter registration to tracking local government actions, we offer tools and insights to help you stay engaged and make a difference during every step of the election cycle. As we cover key issues and candidates, offer voter resources and report on election results in real-time, we strive to make it easy for you to cast your vote and stay informed.

We’re a small newsroom, doing our best to offer this vital coverage for 13 counties at no cost. If you value what we do, please consider supporting us with a donation to keep this resource available to all. Every contribution helps us continue bringing you essential election news and civic information.

Activating Democracy

Bay City News has compiled a list of organizations committed to voter registration, political activism, and civic education.

Our Legal Affairs reporter and occasional editorial cartoonist Joe Dworetzky travels to Milwaukee and Chicago to report from the ground level on the drama and curiosities he encounters at the 2024 National Conventions for the Republican and Democratic parties. Dworetzky is a lifetime political junkie who previously covered the 2016 Republican Convention, Donald Trumpโ€™s Inauguration and the 2017 Womenโ€™s March on Washington for SFWeekly. For the 2024 DNC, Dworetzky is accompanied by Bay City News reporter Jay Harris and contributor David Paul โ€” fellow political observers with questions about everything.
