A Bay Area community college district headquartered in Oakland will wipe out $2.8 million in student debt following the receipt of $12.25 million in federal relief money, district officials said.
Officials with the Peralta Community College District, which serves 30,000 students in the East Bay, will allocate the balance of the $12.25 million to student financial aid in coming semesters.
