Thousands of San Franciscans rode Muni to participate in the Golden State Valkyries championship parade on Wednesday, making it the system’s highest-ridership day since the pandemic.
It’s the first time that Muni ridership has reached 600,000 trips in a single day since 2020, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
Routes that recorded big ridership on Wednesday included the 1 California, 8 Bayshore, 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 38 Geary, 38R Geary Rapid, and the J, K, L, M and T lines.
Muni officials said they’ve recently seen a steady increase in ridership. A few weeks ago, the transit agency recorded 589,000 trips on a Wednesday, setting the previous post-pandemic daily record.
“In fact, Muni’s 16 highest-ridership days since the pandemic have all occurred between August 2026 and Nov. 4, 2026, demonstrating the continued momentum in transit travel across San Francisco,” Muni officials said in a news release.
The transit agency cited a comparison to the 2022 Golden State Warriors championship parade, when Muni recorded about 290,000 trips.
