Landmarks across Alameda County will be illuminated green over the next seven days in support of Operation Green Light for Veterans, officials said.

Veterans Memorial buildings in Albany, San Leandro, Hayward, Fremont and Livermore, as well as the René C. Davidson Courthouse and the Susan S. Muranishi County of Alameda Administration Building, will be among those lit up through Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

Now in its sixth year, Operation Green Light for Veterans is a nationwide effort by counties, the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.

The goal is to show support for veterans and raise awareness around the resources available at the county, state and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.

In 2025, 412 counties across 44 states participated in Operation Green Light.

“Alameda County is proud to participate in Operation Green Light to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation,” said Alameda County Board of Supervisors President David Haubert.

County residents, businesses and community organizations are encouraged to participate by changing one light to a green bulb.

“Our commitment to veterans goes beyond recognizing their service. It means ensuring they have access to the resources and support they need to thrive,” said Alameda County Board of Supervisors Vice President Lena Tam, who also chairs the Board’s Social Services Committee.

Counties and residents across the country are sharing their participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
