State grant helps Fremont fund maintenance on 9 city-owned bridges

The city of Fremont, Calif., is set to move forward with the design phase of a project to repair and reseal nine city owned bridges, including the bridge on Alvarado Boulevard that takes vehicles over Interstate Highway 80. The work is funded by a grant from the state Department of Transportation, Caltrans. The City Council will vote on the $2.9 million project on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with work set to begin in 2028. Nine city-owned bridges in Fremont will get a new lease on life thanks to a state grant that will fund preventative maintenance.

The Fremont City Council will consider giving final approval for the $2.9 million expenditure when it meets Tuesday.
