San Leandro voters in Tuesday’s election signed off on a charter amendment that will change its City Council elections to be held by district.
Measure F had more than 87% approval, according to the latest results, well above the simple majority needed to pass. The San Leandro council last year put the proposal on the ballot under threat of litigation and followed many other cities that have moved to district elections rather than ones held at large.
Once the results are certified, San Leandro would then have voters in districts 1, 3 and 5 participate in district elections this November, then the other districts would do the same in 2028.
