Oakland’s airport can keep its new name as part of a settlement agreement announced Tuesday between the city of San Francisco and the Port of Oakland.

In 2024, the Port of Oakland, which oversees the airport, changed the name to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport. That prompted a lawsuit by San Francisco that argued the new name infringed on the trademark for San Francisco International Airport and would confuse travelers.
