Two New Year’s Eve events in the Bay Area have something to offer everyone, whether it’s a traditional fireworks celebration at the stroke of midnight or a somewhat less conventional balloon drop at the stroke of noon.

For those who would like to celebrate New Year’s Eve with their children and without losing sleep or gaining a hangover, the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos is offering a daytime event on Tuesday.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at the museum’s Skyway Road location and includes a singalong, puppets, Gemar the Magician, and a noon countdown and balloon drop.

Needless to say, if weather permits, there will be a jump house, a feature that has apparently become de rigueur for any event involving children, as well as face-painting, drone flying, and, if it’s not raining, an obstacle course.

Food? Also de rigueur under the circumstances: Pizza and hot dogs.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are only sold online. No tickets will be sold at the door, organizers said.

Fireworks by the Bay

Those looking to enjoy some nightlife with their New Year celebration can head to San Francisco on Tuesday evening for the launch of the city’s annual fireworks celebration promptly at midnight.

The show will take place just south of the Ferry Building near Pier 14, where Mission Street intersects the Embarcadero, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s 511.org website.

Multiple streets will be closed to traffic along the Embarcadero. Those attending the celebration are urged to use public transportation.
