Hundreds of protesters demanding a ceasefire in Gaza have marched onto the Central Freeway in San Francisco and are blocked the roadway.

The protesters moved onto the freeway at the Highway 101 and Interstate Highway 80 split at about 1:45 p.m. on Monday, according to the Calfornia Highway Patrol.

Authorities have urged motorists to avoid the freeway from Duboce Avenue to Octavia Boulevard.

The demonstration on President’s Day was planned to call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to U.S. support of an Israeli assault on Gaza.
