Ethnic diversity among teachers in the Bay Area appears to be higher in urban counties with San Francisco leading the way.

At 44.2 percent, the percentage of non-white teachers in San Francisco in the 2017-18 school year outranked Santa Clara County, with 35.4 percent. Alameda County was next, with 33 percent, according to the California Department of Education.  

Here’s the ranking of numbers of teachers who are people of color for the nine counties of the Bay Area in the 2017-18 school year.
