The mayor and City Council of Salinas want to know what the public wants in the city’s next city manager.

Residents are being asked to complete an online survey in English or in Spanish on what areas of experience and leadership qualities are most important.

The questions ask the public to rank the most important background for the manager in areas such as public safety, employee/labor relations and economic development.

The same is asked of leadership attributes such as ethics and integrity, empathy and accountability.

The survey is open through Dec. 1.
