Two Bay Area airports will receive nearly $40 million in federal funding to upgrade taxiways and improve safety as part of a $107 million investment in airport infrastructure across California, the offices of U.S. Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff said Thursday.
The largest Bay Area award will go to Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport, which will receive $28.1 million to rehabilitate more than 10,500 feet of Taxiway W, a project aimed at extending the pavement’s life and reducing debris that could damage aircraft.
