SOUTHERN MARIN RESIDENTS seeking health, social service and financial assistance no longer need to travel to the Marin County Civic Center. On Thursday, a new Southern Marin County Services Annex opened with a celebration in Marin City.

The annex, located at 630 Drake Ave., will officially open to the public Monday. The center will offer help with Medi-Cal enrollment, CalFresh food benefits, CalWORKs employment services, general relief assistance, behavioral health programs and the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program. Services for older adults will also be available through the county’s Aging and Adult Services.

County Executive Derek Johnson said the annex reflects Marin County’s effort to make social services more accessible.

“Everyone deserves access to the services and support they need to thrive,” Johnson said in a statement. “The Southern Marin County Services Annex helps remove barriers and brings important resources closer to the communities we serve.”

Ida Green, senior program coordinator and on-site lead with Marin Health and Human Services, added, “We want every resident who walks through our doors to feel welcomed and supported.”

The project follows years of planning and community engagement, according to county officials.
