Richmond, the East Bay home of World War II icon Rosie the Riveter, is going to be looking for a new city manager.

Richmond City Manager Shasa Curl announced plans to retire Tuesday, once three neighborhood-scale health zones are completed.

Curl, who previously held a variety of administrative roles in the municipality, has been city manager for four years.

During her tenure, Richmond renovated its historic Civic Center, including an investment of $34 million in the main library; revitalization of the Hacienda Heights and Nevin Plaza affordable housing developments, and the Booker T. Anderson Community Center.

“It has been the great privilege of my professional career to serve Richmond for over two decades, and I am proud of our many accomplishments on behalf of this extraordinary City,” Curl said in a press release.
